On March 9th and 10th, 2026 the 18th Annual Conference of the German Health Economics Association (dggö) took place in Wuppertal. This year, the conference's focus was on the topic of “Healthcare in Transition”.
Many members of the Institute of Health Economics (IHE) were present at this event and took advantage of the countless presentation sessions to both network and inform themselves on current projects within the German health economics research landscape.
Two members of the IHE took also presented their own work:
On Monday, Lukas Noll presented his research on the topic of costs and burdens faced by informal carers in a session on “Cost analysis and health economic evaluation”.
On the second day of the conference, Andrea Maffeis presented his research on the implementation of a one-bed reform, which aimed to increase the quota of one-bed rooms available in German nursing homes. In the session titled “Long-Term Care”, he discussed his results regarding the effects of such a reform on the quality of care that nursing home residents receive.
The conference's program also included two very interesting keynotes by Prof. Dr. Jeffrey Braithwaite (Macquarie University, Sydney) and Prof. Angela Bate (Northumbria University Newcastle), as well as an evening event at the historical town hall in Wuppertal.
The team of the IHE would like to thank the organizers for such a wonderful event. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again next year!
