Fast Health – the provision of easily accessible preventive medical services (e.g., blood tests or eye exams) – is a very timely topic which is becoming a more frequent focus of both medical professionals and the media. In Germany, such preventive medical services have been recently introduced in some drug store chains.

A recent episode of the “Zeitfragen” podcast by Deutschlandfunk is also interested in the topic of Fast Health and asked Prof. Dr. Annika Herr (IHE, AHeaD) – amongst others – about her views on recent developments.

In her contribution, Prof. Dr. Herr emphasizes that quality is a key factor in evaluating these easily accessible service offers. However, she also points out that due to the lack of empirical evidence which is yet to be generated because of the rather rapid developments in this area of medical service provision, it is not feasible to make any concrete statements regarding questions of e.g., efficiency or how the availability of these services affects the more traditional provision of medical care by physicians.

If you would like to listen to the entire podcast episode (approx. six minutes), you can do so here, on the website of Deutschlandfunk (in German).
